We are dedicated to curate an environment for transformative retreat processes and experiences, that supports the incredible work our hosts do. With a focus on regeneration and serving both guests and Mother Nature, in collaboration with like-minded people and organisations, we aim to leave the world better that we found it; for ourselves, others, and the world.
The Land
Gymea Eco Retreat & Spa is a unique Group Retreat Centre positioned on a vast expanse of 46 hectares (113 acres) encompassing lush rolling rainforest in the foothills of the revered Mt Warning. This majestic mountain, known as Wollumbin to the Bundjalung Nation, holds profound significance as a sacred site to the local Bungjalung people. The area is a place where many of the lines in the Earth’s energy grid converge, and the energy is often commented on by both hosts and guests that come to Gymea to create or attend transformational retreats.
Energy & Water
We collect and purify all of our own rainwater onsite, without toxic chemicals and killing the good stuff in our water. Instead we use a double filtration system, which removes any physical particles down to one micron. The water then passes through a UV purification process, which kills any toxic bacteria (chemical-free) leaving us with incredible tasting naturally structured rainwater.
128 solar panels span the tops of our buildings, giving us a combined generating capacity of 33.0 kW (kilowatts). Historically we have have produced 40 Megawatts of solar energy, representing almost 90% or our electric needs for that year.
Toxic Chemical Free
We are dedicated to improving and nurturing a harmonious connection with the environment. In alignment with this, we have consciously chosen to refrain from using harmful chemicals for washing, cleaning, disinfecting, and weed, mould, and pest control.
We have chosen to eliminate the use of harmful and toxic chemicals, to be kinder to the environment and our guests. While with us, you can reduce your toxic load, detox, experience restorative sleep, ground to the earth and immerse in nature.
We have made the conscious decision to prioritize eco-friendly furnishings, bedding, towels, fabrics, paints and finishes.
As part of our waste reduction efforts, we work to minimise waste and embrace composting and recycling practices to repurpose materials whenever possible. By adopting these eco-conscious practices, we aim to create a sustainable and environmentally responsible space for all our guests to enjoy.
